That was brilliant, thank you. I had often thought of doing something similar but have neither the dvd's nor the talent.
Grudge match: Mr. French vs. Mr. Giles.
A topic for my next visit to therapy: The first one made me smile; the second one made me laugh. I wonder why. (Not sure if it's relevant that I'm old enough to have seen "Family Affair" in its first run.)
Back in the days when The WB tried to revive Family Affair with Gary Cole as Uncle Bill and Tim Curry as Mr. French, some of us tried to draw parallels between Family Affair and Buffy The Vampire Slayer on the Buffy newsgroup. Both Buffy Summers and Buffy Davis were being supervised by stuffy Englishmen named Giles, and both Gileses were temporarily replaced by other stuffy Englishmen - Giles French by his brother Nigel when Sebastian Cabot was taken ill; Rupert Giles by Wesley Wyndham-Price by order of the Watchers Council. Needless to say, this little attempt at humour did not go down well with the hard core Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans who are totally devoid of a sense of humour. One reason why I stopped subscribing to the newsgroup.
