Grudge Match: Potsie Weber vs. Ralph Malph

The Fonz and Richie Cunningham have decided that from now on they can only carry one useless sidekick instead of two. And so Potsie Weber (Anson Williams) and Ralph Malph (Donny Most) decide to fight for the right to be the stars' friends. Winner of the fight gets to continue hanging out with Richie and Fonzie. Loser is condemned to hang out with Chachi for all eternity.

Who wins this battle of the sitcom sidekicks?

I agree. Besides, Potsie has a great singing voice. Ralph has schtick.
Hmm. How about Lenny vs Squiggy?

I must disagree here.

I turned the channel every time Potsie started "singing." Stick with Ralph on this one people.

Potsie's singing was always out of character and way too self-concious to be entertaining.

If the fight got physical, Ralph would win hands down. Potsie would fight clean and fair, just like Ritchie and the Fonz taught him, but Ralph would knee him in the groin....

Potsie at least had some personality possibilities in the character -- even in the three-camera period before the show JTS, they did wring a little pathos out of the episode where Fonize had to be nice to Potsie when he pulled him from the burning garage. While they tried to make Ralph a more fleshed-out character at times, any effort to turn him into anything more than a bad-joking sidekick were forced and unfunny from the outset. My guess is Ralph would win the fight and then get ostracized by everyone at Arnold's for picking on the poor schlub and having no good jokes as a redeeming social value.

But yea, when they decided to get cheap with the music rights and have Anson Williams do more and more singing, that was cringe-worthy (let alone totally against type for the rest of Potsie's dumb/loser personality).

Potsie's superior capoeria skills would leave dirty fighting, trailer trash, Malph in the dirt.
